Larry and I met through a mutual friend three years ago and have been inseparable ever since. When we first started talking, it felt like reconnecting with someone I'd known my whole life. I've never loved anyone the way I love Larry. He is my backbone and treats me like a queen.
Dating outside of your race is generally frowned upon in Indian culture. I waited about six months before introducing Larry to my family, and thankfully they were very accepting of my choice of a life-partner.
I was lucky enough to travel to Ghana in 2020 and meet Larry's family, which was amazing. They taught me how to make banku and stew, which is an experience I'll always remember and carry with me.
Both of our families have given us their blessing and we couldn't ask for more than that.
While I understand we are in a lucky position to be accepted by those around us, I would advise anyone who finds themselves in an interracial relationship to go for it and not give up. At the end of the day, we have one life to live, and should be able to choose our happiness.
